Oliver is Legal Counsel to the Court of King’s Bench and the Court of Justice in Red Deer, where he provides timely and effective legal advice to the judiciary at all stages of proceedings. His work for the judiciary includes committee work on privacy and technology matters. His work on civil procedure includes a paper for the Legal Education Society of Alberta.

He previously practiced civil and commercial litigation, including administrative, employment and insurance law. His experience includes negotiations and alternative dispute resolution, including arbitrations.

Oliver is active in the community, serving as Secretary to the Piper Creek Optimist Club of Red Deer and the Board of the Central Alberta Bar Society (CABS). He is co-chair of the Canadian Bar Association “Inns of Court” committee for Red Deer.

His educational experience includes an LL.M. from the University of California, Berkeley, where he earned a certificate of specialization in Energy and Clean Technology Law, worked as a graduate research assistant, and for a leading environmental law journal. He is a graduate of the University of Calgary Law School and Trinity College at the University of Toronto.

He is an avid alpine skier and hiker, reader, traveller, and language enthusiast.
